most scent is released by heat (body heat, the sun or the new electric room fresheners) that is also why candles work better that spray. you are wasting human perfume spraying it in the air, though if you spray it on pillows and then your body heat releases it, it will be noticed. keep the heat factor in mind when using scent.When you spray perfume/room spray in the air, do you think the scent really lasts?

Step1


First, make sure your home is tidy. It doesn't have to be perfectly clean, but odors get trapped under couches, in closets, behind cushions and shelves. So take a few minutes to vacuum out those hidden odor traps.





Step2


Go through the house and identify potential undesirable odors, such as a pile of dirty laundry, a trash can or wet towels. Pick those up and get them out of there. Dirty laundry can hide in the laundry room, and an overflowing trash should always be emptied immediately.





Step3


Treat problem spots. Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom of the trash can, and place a small container of baking soda under the sink. Neutralize the smell of mold (especially present in old houses) by placing small cups filled with white vinegar in corners of the room. Make sure to refill weekly.





Step4


Spray an air freshener or odor neutralizer on blankets, window treatments and furniture. This will fix whatever lingering odors are staying behind.





Step5


Light a homey smelling candle, especially if it's winter. Try fresh pine, vanilla, cookie, apple pie or apple cider. They are all good scents to make a house feel cozy. If it is the summer, open the windows for fresh air. Nothing smells better than a nice breeze.

it is better to spray on blanket , chair because the material is what holds on to the odor so when you spray the material you are getting right to the source of the odor and it last longer then just spraying the air
